The Z44SZ80 features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD movies and HD telecasts. The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing feature detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theater-like experience at home. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter analyzes consecutive scanning lines within a field as well as the preceding and following fields. This results in improved detail and color purity, a more stable video image, and nearly eliminating dot crawl and color bleeding.

It has a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, 450 cd/m2 brightness rating, and an amazing 1500:1 contrast ratio (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also has an 8,000-hour lamp life, three modes of color temperature adjustment, seven modes of aspect ratio adjustment, and a screen pitch of 0.098mm.
